MORATUS Desktop
The approval mode decides which operations the agent asks your permission for first. Change the mode with the approval status button in the composer. In the example below, choose a mode to see which tool calls in the same job ask for approval.
- read_file · growth-report.mdAutomatic
- edit_file · growth-report.mdAutomatic
- create_document · Q3-leadership-summary.docxAutomatic
- delete_file · old-draft.mdAsks
- run_command · npm testAsks
Approval needed
delete_file · old-draft.md
| Mode | Behavior | Recommended use |
|---|---|---|
| Ask for approval | Asks before every tool use. | In a new folder, during first uses |
| Approve for me (default) | Approves safe tools automatically; asks before deleting files and running terminal commands. | Everyday use |
| Full access | Runs tools without asking for approval. | Trusted, well-known work |
The approval prompt
- At a step that needs approval, an approval prompt opens in the chat; it shows the tool's name and a summary of the operation.
- Approve runs the operation; with Reject, the operation is not carried out.
- If you want it done differently, reject it and write what you want in the chat.
Which mode should I choose?
| Situation | Recommended |
|---|---|
| A new folder, first uses | Ask for approval |
| Everyday work | Approve for me |
| Work you trust and know well | Full access |
| Seeing a plan before anything changes | Plan mode (see Plan mode and the to-do list) |
Protections that work together
- Trust gate: The agent doesn't work at all in a folder you haven't approved (see Working with folders and trust).
- Checkpoints: Changes made by file tools can be undone (see Checkpoints (undo)).
- Content is treated as data: Instructions found in web pages, documents, and on screen are not followed; they are reported to you.
Important
In Full access, terminal commands also run without asking, and changes made by the terminal cannot be undone with checkpoints. Use this mode only for work you trust.
Example scenario
In the default mode, when you say “Delete the old drafts and run the tests,” the agent reads and, if needed, edits files, but stops for your approval at the delete_file and run_command steps. The approval prompt shows which file will be deleted and which command will run, and you approve or reject each one separately.
Frequently asked questions
- Do reads ask for approval too? Only in Ask for approval. In the default mode, reading and web tools are approved automatically.
- Which operations always ask in the default mode? Deleting files and terminal commands.
- What happens if I reject an operation? It isn't carried out. You can steer the agent by writing what you want in the chat.
