Important
Chat history is tied to the machine. When you sign in with the same account on another computer, that computer's history is shown.
Where are generated files saved?
- If the chat is connected to a working folder, generated files are written to that folder.
- If no folder is selected, files are saved under
Documents\Moratus. - The Library is derived from local messages; files open from their location on disk (see Library).
- Web Design and App Development projects run in a cloud sandbox; their files are not downloaded to disk (see Known limitations).
Deleting and keeping data
- When you delete a chat, its checkpoints are deleted too; you can no longer undo that chat's file changes.
- Records in the error log match the ref code shown in the chat (see Error references).
- Because chat history is tied to your computer, keep important files in your working folders and back them up when you switch computers.
Privacy
- Chats, attachments, and generated files stay on your disk.
- Model provider keys are kept only on the server; they never enter the Desktop package.
- The interface has no Node access; only the local runtime writes to disk.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I move my chats to another computer? Chat history is tied to the machine; when you sign in with the same account on another computer, that computer's history is shown. Keeping important files in your working folders makes it easier to move your work.
- Where do I find a generated file? In the working folder if the chat is connected to one, otherwise under
Documents\Moratus. You can also open the file from its location on disk through the Library. - Is my memory kept on my computer? No. Memory is kept on the shared server and stays in sync across devices (see How does memory work?).
- If I delete a chat, are my generated files deleted too? The chat's checkpoints are deleted with it; files saved to your working folder stay in the folder.
