Memory and Personalization
Memory lets MORATUS pick up lasting, useful information about you from your chats and use it in later responses. That way you don't have to explain your name, your work, your preferences, or your ongoing projects in every chat.
How is memory built?
- You send a message while Use chat history memory is on.
- The memory processor on the server checks in the background whether your message contains lasting, useful information.
- It saves what it finds under the right category, or updates an existing record.
- In later chats, the relevant records are added to the context and responses are personalized accordingly (see Context window).
What is remembered?
| Category | Example |
|---|---|
| Identity | Your name, your profession |
| Preferences and interests | “Prefers emails short and in bullet points.” |
| Goals | “Wants to launch the new product by the end of the year.” |
| Projects | Work in progress and its status |
| Context | Work environment, tools in use |
| Constraints | “The brand voice does not use exclamation marks.” |
| Relationships | Teammates, customers |
What isn't remembered?
- One-off details and short-lived context, such as a translation or a calculation you needed once.
- Incognito chats: they are not written to memory (see Incognito chat).
- Guest chats: they are not saved at all.
- Chats you have while Use chat history memory is off.
Memory and other kinds of context
| What it holds | Where it applies | Who writes it | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Memory | Lasting information about you: identity, preferences, goals | All your chats | The memory processor on the server |
| Personalization | Preferences you set explicitly, such as behavior, how to address you, and profession | All your chats | You |
| Project notes | Decisions and progress in a project | Only that project's chats | MORATUS, after chat turns |
| Project instructions | Lasting rules for one project | Only that project's chats | You |
For project notes and instructions, see Project components; for personalization, see Personalization.
Privacy and scope
- Memory records are private to you; you can view and delete your own records.
- Records are added and updated only by the memory processor on the server; the app cannot write records directly.
- Your memory is the same on Web, Desktop, and Mobile.
- Memory capacity depends on your plan: Lite has limited memory, and Plus has stronger memory (see Individual plans).
